My hiking buddy consumed lots of wild blueberries and wild strawberries! Quite buggy, bring bug repellant. The gondola was amazing and the restaurant at the top was actually pretty good. Enter Crystal Mountain at the main entrance on M-115. Crystal Mountain Trail can be combined with other trails to make a great 14 mile loop. Took the gondola to the top and hiked down. We hiked down after taking the gondola to the top. It was about a 30 degree difference at the trailhead than in King County so I opted for a lower elevation hike in the area as I didn’t have the right clothing. Very pretty location with lots of beautiful likes but the trail is hard and the bugs were unfortunate. Luxe hiking at its best. We didn’t experience much mosquitoes as mentioned by couple of people. The winter season usually runs from Thanksgiving to mid-April. The left branch goes on to Crystal Lake, and the right branch to Lower Crystal Lake. Took the gondola up and then hiked down, but next time totally doing the opposite. After Summit House, the Crystal Mountain Trail drops east into the bowl but I wanted to continue to more summits along the ridge. Beautiful hike down.
